Manually milling an arc without a rotary table
Jun 10, 2013I used a .005 diameter end mill and worked under a microscope to see what was going on. The individual steps were very apparent at that level. Obviously a larger end mill will make the steps less apparent. I think I would get looking for a rotary table though, it's gonna take a lot of time to create an arc with that technique. Tom

May 12, 2020The issue I'm having is that the T-slots on the rotary table won't allow the vise to be square to the mill. To make it all line up, I'd have to set my 0 to several other numbers on the rotary table rather than to the actual 0. It's a Phase II 221-306 rotary table that has 4 T-slots for mounting.

Nov 04, 2011So as it sits I am using a 1/2 3 flute center cutting Alu-power bit with the rotary table. RPM is around 2300 feed is somewhat fast. So far this has been the fastest set up for this op, but I am still thinking about the Hollow Mill since all I would have to do is plunge it in. Accuracy doesn't have to be super great like +0.004 would be fine.
